Product Information. Featuring suits from the entire series, Mobile Suit Gundam: Crossfire is set during the later years of 'The One Year War.'
Players are invited to get into the cockpit of a Zeon or Earth Federation fighter and battle for domination. The Zeons are an invading species set on taking the planet for their own, while the Earth Federation is working hard to make sure that doesn't happen. Depending on the side, players experience different story-based cut-scenes to keep them up-to-date on the conflict at hand. Each level is a kill-or-be-killed environment where gamers must destroy tanks, enemy structures, aircraft, and other mobile suit fighters in order to complete objectives identified during a pre-mission briefing. The suits include a set of ranged weapons and one energy blade for close combat conditions. Throughout the game, players and their suits earn experience points used to increase the effectiveness of attack and defensive tactics. The 'location-specific' damage system allows a gamer to focus firepower on one section of an enemy's suit until the area is destroyed. The 'sniper' mode adds to this skill by allowing players to further focus their attack on a single part of the suit.
Gundam's first PS3 Attempt = MehTo begin, this game should be avoided by non-Gundam fans. I am a Gundam fan though, so I like it, not because of the gameplay, but because of the range of usable Gundams.-I had an entire review written out, however, after rereading it, it was just the same thing repeated over and over again in different ways.
So I read this review my friend did for the magazine Eurogamer, and it captured what I wanted to say and think perfectly. Here is a simple excerpt that puts it into a nice little nutshell for you:'Objectively this is a game that basically sucks. It's technically limited, characterised by treacle-slow, far-from-original gameplay that's beset by niggles, and sorely unadorned by fancy cut-scenes or easy-to-navigate menus.
But subjectively, in spite of all of its flaws, what emerges is something that has the potential to be hypnotically absorbing and, yes, even fun.' -Eurogamer Magazine.-CONS:To begin, this game just has too many flaws. However, what some fail to realize is that this was one of the first PS3 games of its kind, and hadn't exactly mastered the insanely conflicting and complex rendering system of the PS3.One of the many flaws is the fact that there is no tutorial, so it ends up being a frustrating hour or so figuring it out. Afterwhich, it takes a little while to figure out what is actually going on. You get partnering Mobile Suits, but they would just as much run into a wall than fight beside you.PROS:The range of usable Gundams would make any Gundam fan's heart sing. Similiar to the usable amount in the Gundam Dynasty Warrior games, but in different play. Artifact reddit.
The graphics are seemingly smooth and fairly amazing for the year this game came out on the PS3, as most that did in 2006 were still experimenting with the system's graphics. The interesting satisfaction of running around as a Gundam, slashing/blasting other giant robots and seeing them explode is something any Gundam fan will be proud of.FINAL:All in all, it's an average game whose flaws could be fixed if it had come out later, and whose pros just barely cut it. Like I said, this game is mostly for Gundam fans who enjoy Gundam and it's nostalgia. (Unless you see it at Gamestop or something for a dollar.then go for it.)-n88r. Not the best gundam game ever made.Like many review before me, I'm gonna say that its pretty bad. Not worth the price it was sold at launch but probably $20.
It defies all logic on how often slow down occurs and a lot of the features in the game are pointless. For example, the game has a large roster of pilots from either side to recruit and fight along side, but the only difference between any two pilots is their name that is displayed in text and their statistics, the AI is just as stupid either way!
Another useless feature is squad commands, other than the manual, there is no way to check watch each of the digital pad's buttons do. You could test them in battle, but the AI barely knows what its doing half the time so its pointless to test them out in battle. A final useless feature I want to mention is zooming in, snipin g, because its completely useless on since the bullets move so slow and enemies with long range weapons will automatically lock on to anyone in sight and instant firing at you. The only positive thing I can honestly say is that its cool to have a large variety of mobile suits to play with and selecting their main weapon.
This is probably only something a gundam fan wold enjoy, possibly giant robot fans too, but definitely not fun for everyone. First Gundam for PS3 is a MUST!Mobile Suit Gundam Crossfire is a launch title for the PlayStation 3 when came on November 2006. Also this one follows the tradition of the past PSone and PStwo games that precedes it. Do not add the Dynasty Warriors versions. Those does not count for this review.Like its predecessors, Crossfire gets you into missions that follows the plot of the original and popular Gundam anime.
The graphical details, from the robots to the damage taken, are incredibly amazing. The controller is another story. Feels unresponsive and the robots move much slower than on Journey to Jaburo from PS2.If you like Gundam games, but not Gundam Musou (the Japanese name to Dynasty Warriors Gundam), this one is a must.
It will let you frustrated, but not unsatisfied. You will definitely enjoy this game. An OK game with nothing to hook us upOkay, I really love Gundam games since I played it on Playstation 2 and I wish I could play some more advanced, more beautiful and engaging Gundam game on PS3. I mean, that's the sole reason we are buying this monster and incredible console in the first place. At first, the game is pretty engaging and you can quite enjoy it, but the story mode ends prematurely and we are left with a shoot and slash game to re-complete. The gundams provided are also the old ones, without the new-advanced-famous models. I can't believe this.Last and the most saddening thing, the graphic quality. It is too mediocre I am going to be ashamed of my friends if I said that I play this game and admit it as a ps3 game.
Even though you are a Gundam games fan, you won't miss a thing if you don't play this one. I wi ll go as far as saying that it's better to get Dynasty Warrior: Gundams instead. It's kinda stupid in idea, but you will get a better enjoyment, YES, really.
Next-Gen Mobile Suit Gundam. Is it worth it?I am a true fan of all-things-Gundam, truly am.
But this game made me almost trickle my beverage unto my PS3. As a Gundam game, this would be the epitome of embarrassment and shame in any Gundam Game.
I do not really blame the company for it, but maybe due to public demand in Japan and some fans, the game was precipitated and rushed. Let me point out the Pros and Cons:Pros:-Decent graphics, yet chaotic in its own way-Realistic destruction physics and part dismemberment-True-to-life scenarios when repairing/buying/ordering/transferring MS or Pilots it really does take time and the game is time-based as if waiting for D-Day or commencing of a large-scale battle at the end-Broad selection of U.C.
Era Gundams with average customizationsCons:-Major Lagging issue(tends to slow down when there are few or more MS's or battles)-VERY WEAK STORYLINE, wait, there is NO storyline at ALL. This is one of greatest mistakes made, especially for a Gundam game. Worse than Zeonic Front's storyline. Compare this is MSG: Journey to Jaburo. For the PS2 release has a decent story that stays with the series.
You are simply stationed in battle with no plot whatsoever.-Dialogue and Voice-overs tend to get annoying as your enemies/allies would scream three seconds later after being destroyed oO and the same quotes keep repeating everytime: 'Zeon Dogs.!' 60 seconds later. 'Zeon Dogs.!' -Very challenging at times. This is would probably be the most frustrating Gundam game I've ever played.
The enemies ALWAYS know where you are, which gives you no tactical advantage(Enemies can aim at you miles away easily) and the most annoying part is that they send you with only few supports or sometimes, no support at all. Being alone is the downfall, especially with no repairs during any mission.
The last level of Zeon expects you to guard the first base and take out 12 MS's, but it's not an issue since you have Gelgoogs defending it with you. Then, command tells you to go to a suicide path of destroying the rest of the Federation of which there are aprx 30 MS's, excluding the Federation Airforce.-Very little replay value, enough said. Thus, this is far, one of the worst Gundam games ever created. I would rather play MSG: New Dawn than this Gundam. It's a shame to even call this game Gundam. I spent $39.99 and overall, it's not worth that price. Should be worth $20.00!
